This is a commissioned piece I finished recently. It was painted from a photo supplied by a ranch owner in West Texas, whose ranch borders along the Devil's River. At 24"x36", this is the largest painting I have done. What a great time, painting this beautiful scene from a Texas treasured river.
Ducks are here

As the weather turns cooler, we start to see the migrating ducks, here in central Texas. In the last 3 weeks, I've seen teal (green and blue wing), pintail, gadwall, and many mallards, joining our resident flock of greenheads. All are beautiful, but none as colorful as the drake wood duck.
With a handful of corn in the right spot, I'm able to sketch and photograph most of these mentioned species. This is the first, as I plan to add more 'duck paintings" over the next few months. Hope you enjoy.
