I attended the "Retrospective" of James Robinson (1944-2015) paintings, yesterday, held by Insight Gallery in Fredericksburg. This was an amazing experience, viewing new works, completed just before his death, and seeing some old favorites, from private collections. Most valuable to me was the insight (no pun intended) into the amount of planning, scrutiny and work he put into each of his large "masterpieces". I keep reminding my self - dedication, persistence and talent can produce wonderful results.
As I viewed these works, I was reminded that we have lost 3 other Texas artists, I admired and considered friends.
Herb Booth, 1942-2014
Al Barnes, 1927-2015
Bill Zaner, 1930-2015
They are missed, but their art will continue to inspire and please.
Happy 2016!

I wish everyone a very Happy, Safe, Peaceful, and Prosperous 2016! I look forward to the many positive changes I anticipate and hope to share these with you. Please share yours, as well.
This is the last painting I completed in 2015. It's a sketch of my duck hunting friend's Lab, Freddie. We lost Freddie to cancer, in December. This sketch is from one of his last hunts I was privileged to be on. Even with his diminished stamina and strength, Freddie continued to retrieve ducks with style. That, and his owner, was what he lived for.
